Turo — Better car rental

Super convenient and way more affordable than a run-of-the-mill car rental

I am beyond furious with Turo. I spent time browsing cars, picked one I wanted to rent, and when I tried to complete the payment — BAM, my account got instantly blocked with zero warning. No explanation. No phone call. Nothing. Just locked out like I’m a criminal. I contacted support and their useless bot refused to connect me to a real person. Eventually a human replied with a copy-paste message basically saying “we’ve made our decision, try again in 2 years.” Are you kidding me?! This is absolute garbage service. You lock out real customers who are ready to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, offer zero transparency, and treat people like trash.

I rented a car through Turo for a little over 40 days, and honestly, even though I ran into a few issues, I would definitely use Turo again. At the beginning, my reservation was canceled because of a driver’s license verification issue, and about a week into the trip, the car’s battery stopped working. Later, I also had some billing issues that took a few calls to sort out. What really impressed me was Turo’s customer support. Every time I needed help, I was able to reach a real person quickly. All of the agents were kind, professional, and genuinely willing to help solve my problem. As someone from Brazil, English is not my first language, but every representative was patient and made sure they understood my situation. That made a huge difference during a stressful trip. No company is perfect, and problems can happen. What matters is how those problems are handled, and Turo did a great job. I truly hope they never lose the human side of their customer service, because that’s what made me trust the company. Despite the challenges, I’m very happy with the support I received, and I would absolutely rent through Turo again.

Enjoy a lot

The host was great, and the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette was beautiful and drove great during the time it was running. The pickup location was convenient, and the car had about half a tank of fuel at pickup. The exterior was a bit dusty and dirty, and I had expected it to be cleaner, but I didn’t want to risk taking it through a car wash or spend additional money getting it detailed. Unfortunately, I experienced battery issues during my trip. The battery died twice, requiring assistance from Turo Roadside Assistance both times. The first incident left us waiting approximately 1½ hours for a jump-start. The second incident occurred around 2:00 a.m., and the tow truck did not arrive until about 3:30 a.m. The vehicle ultimately had to be towed to a storage lot, and I had to arrange transportation home, arriving around 5:00 a.m. The host was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the situation, doing his best to help determine what was wrong with the vehicle. Since we were far from the original pickup location, he advised contacting Turo Roadside Assistance, which was the appropriate course of action and Turo did provide support. While I understand that mechanical issues can happen with any vehicle, the breakdowns significantly impacted the trip and caused a major inconvenience. After reviewing the circumstances, Turo understood the situation and investigated the incidents. Due to the repeated battery failures, roadside assistance calls, towing, and the significant disruption to the trip, Turo approved a full refund, which I appreciated. Overall: Great host and a beautiful car. Unfortunately, the battery issues resulted in multiple breakdowns and a disrupted trip, but both the host and Turo were helpful in addressing the situation, and Turo ultimately provided a full refund.
