with the most recent update i now get notifications from the district despite having turned those off. i only need the ones from the school. daily district level notices are mostly spam. please turn those back off!
PLEASE FIX THE NEW UPDATE!!! I can’t open anything on the bell with notifications. It says 48 new notifications but every time I click on the ones not opened (or opened) it says “an error occurred…” and I can’t open it and it still has 48 new ones Also on alerts icon there’s a red dot and I click every one of the new alerts but then it reappears with the same one as if I never clicked on it. On messages there’s also a red dot but I opened ever message and it still has the red dot by message icon. Thank you! Our schools use this app and I love it. You can easily reach out to teachers and it’s a very easy to use app. The only thing I really wish they would add is a way to bookmark certain posts. For example, ones that are really important for me, or ones that I can easily go back to if needed, instead of searching through all the posts.. I have 6 kids and in 5 different schools and I get a lot of posts.. some are just info and some require action. It would be SO HELPFUL to be able to bookmark/favorite those certain posts!! Thank you!!!!
They made a change in December and I stopped getting notifications. I was struggling missing notifications and reported the issue. I just got an email June 26 the issue was resolved! Maybe, but I won’t know until September. Terrible turnaround time. Messages constantly get lost, they only come in during the day when people are working and there’s no way to mark for follow up and they are lost in the app when new posts come in, very hard to follow up and find things with multiple children and teachers posting.
Being able to mark the new updates as read it is what was needed. THANK YOU! Great tool and it only got better.
Why do you need to impose 68 factor authentication every single time a person logged in? Can’t remember for more than 10 minutes?
The Messages feature can improve. The problem is, as it stands, the top 4 in my list of 19 threads are titled: “(My name) and 2 more” “(Wife’s name) and 2 more” “(Name, Wife) and 3 more” “(Random Parent) and 29 more” If I need to message my oldest kid’s teacher, I need to sort through each one of these before I know which is the correct thread. It’s clumsy. I never need to know that I am a user in a thread in my list. I seldom need to know my wife is also party to a chat. I would like to name these myself.
It is so difficult to remove alert notifications for ParentSquare. They do not refresh / clear even after I’ve read the alert - so annoying
Thank you I appreciate Doran school
Everyday, week, month and year this app always has red notifications. I’ve gone though every school news letter. Every single classroom chat. Every single grade. Every single new bulletin. Every single attendance. Every single thing I can think of to make the stupid red number go away. Still the same red number year after year and never going away. I am now on the verge of deleting this because I don’t like apps showing red numbers when I’ve done everything I can do to ensure they go away.
I am convinced the only reason all of TX schools are forced to use this awful app is because Greg got bribed. This app is impossible to get into. Cant get into my own schools sports team’s “group square” because there is no part of the app that lets search for anything? I need to know when practices are! There is no way is for someone not in a group square to join one themselves, no QR code, no way to make a request. And you get ambushed by an unorganizable amount of notifications. This app is far below its rivals in regards to usability, I have used both Band, MySport, and Remind, who all have a lot more malleability, ParentSquare square wont even let you add a photo to your account profile.
The notifications don’t go away. They stay like you have read the messages
Update Jun 2026: still sucks. Guys if you put effort into fixing bugs like notifications that won’t go away instead of app icons, maybe your app wouldn’t suck so bad? Worst app on my phone. Update Apr 2026: still sucks. Parents in our district hate it. Teachers in our district hate it. Impossible to clear notif badges. Just horrible UX. Update Feb 2026: Still sucks. Everyone I know hates it. Why is it so freaking difficult to clear alerts like weekly progress from aeries? Update Feb 2025: I hate this app so much. I wish I could delete it but the stupid district uses it. Navigation is awful. Tab controllers containing selection bars that change the view vs a drawer view that is also confusing. Still no way to just clear all outstanding notifications. And why … when I have EVERYTHING set to digest… can teachers put things down as “immediate notifications” which then immediately pushes to my phone for a school my kids don’t even go to. Shouldn’t my settings take priority? Why can’t I filter out schools we have no involvement with? This app is just so annoying. Using this because I have to with our school district now. Notifications are very difficult to clear, usually involves going to the alert, scrolling to the bottom, refreshing the view, then going to another screen and hoping the alert count goes down. I’d really like a way to not be notified about everything. Some granularity would be nice. Like I don’t need it for the weekly progress reports from aeries, but I would want it on a direct communication from the teacher. Overall it does what it needs to but that’s about the best I can say. I dread seeing an alert badge because I’m going to spend the next five minutes getting logged in because it somehow lost my session, and then trying to clear the notifs.
