User Reviews
It’s all cool looking at first until you’re standing in the hot sun trying to get a verification for the 10th time for your phone number or you cannot charge even after asking for your card number etc so annoying
Unfortunately companies like JOLT are why EV adoption hasn’t caught on. You have to download the app and input everything short of your Social Security number. Like Why do they need my home address? Clearly to sell my information. But it’s probably sold so many times already in this day and age so whatever I agree. Then it starts charging at a rate of 0.1 kW. Then it randomly stops charging and I get an email that I’m being charged idle time. My lease is almost done on my E-tron. And overall while i enjoy not hearing the drone/roar of an engine and that sweet torque. There’s just such a lack of convenience to charge outside of your own house.
Don’t bother downloading. None of the stations I’ve tried are ever working.
I dedicated the better part of an hour — forty minutes, to be precise — attempting to install and configure this application on my mobile device, time I will not be getting back. The account setup process proved fundamentally broken: the field auto-populated the country code in addition to my entering it manually, truncating my phone number by a digit. Consequently, the validation text was dispatched to a nonexistent number, rendering account verification impossible. I returned to correct the error, only to find the same defect reproduced itself identically. One begins to suspect this is not an isolated bug but a structural failure of the input validation logic. Beyond this, the subscription tier descriptions were a model of obfuscation — needlessly verbose, internally inconsistent, and ultimately unilluminating. I sought clarification through the help function, which offered none of substance. To compound matters, the charging unit's integrated credit card reader — ostensibly a fallback for precisely this sort of failure — was itself non-functional. In sum: a thoroughly unprofessional experience from end to end. I will not be using JOLT chargers or their accompanying application again, and I'd recommend you spare yourself the trouble and seek alternatives. A note to the development team, since I suspect you'll dismiss this as user error: I have spent a career in IT. This is not a competence gap on my end. Your app is broken, and the underlying engineering reflects it.
I don’t believe it’s a ripoff to use voltra/shells existing infrastructure that’s now under Jolt in the NorthEast region of the US. Connectivity is quicker under Jolts newer application. Chargers are now maintained better as a result of users now paying for electricity and Jolt making revenue from ads so it doesn’t go bankrupt in the first place like shells EV division. But the one thing that I disagree with is pricing for electricity within the mid Atlantic & southern regions where electricity rates drop well below 30 cents a kilowatt hour. Gas is cheaper within those regions and the electricity rates should reflect that.
After two attempts to start charging that both yielded frustrating messages to disconnect, restart the app, and try again I just gave up trying to use the charging station.
Terrible experience trying to charge my rental car. The app is terrible and difficult to use. Why can’t they put instructions on the kiosk and have card payment terminal?
I downloaded this app today on a whim, because I wanted to charge my ‘23 Polestar 2 a bit while we were at a movie theater. I had never even heard of Jolt. I rarely use public charging, and have only used EVGo for that. I was thankful this wasn’t a fast charger, because the prices tend to be much higher (in my limited experience with EVGo). The app was super easy to set up. I got started with the “Starter” membership, which is $0.00 (yes, ZERO) per month. This grants full access to their charging network. The upgraded membership is $4.99 (at the time of writing this) and gives you some discounts and whatnot. I don’t use public charging enough to pay for discounts. The app connected to the charger without any delays, and I was able to start charging my car immediately. When we got out of the theater, I easily ended the charging session in the app and I think it was less than $6 for two and a half hours of charging. I call that a win. It gave me plenty of charge to get back to Dallas from Frisco (after starting my day in Crandall), and then back to Crandall where my home is. I had zero issues with any part of the experience. App was easy to download and set up, charger worked flawlessly, and payment was easy. I don’t understand all the bad reviews.
The goal of this app is, at best, to trick you into grossly over-paying for vehicle charging. At worst, it is to trick you into a recurring payment. Adding insult to injury, it will require entering all of your personal info before charging, and then it will show you ads. Avoid if at all possible.
Very easy to setup and start charging however the app would not stop charging and had to just pull the plug.
Can’t log in. Can’t reset password. Can’t set up a new account.
I recently purchased a 2026 Toyota bZ and have been unable to charge at any Jolt charging stations. The station recognizes and connects to the vehicle, but then immediately disconnects and never begins charging. The vehicle charges successfully at EVgo and other charging networks, so the car and adapter appear to be working correctly. Can someone please help investigate whether there is a compatibility issue with the 2026 Toyota bZ or provide troubleshooting steps?. I have contacted customer service and they do see the connection but not the charge, I have tried all 5 stations within the mall these are found at. Also, other cars are able to charge even a car just like me just older model. Thank you!
