FlockHopper is a turn-by-turn navigation app with one extra trick: for every trip, it generates two routes — the fastest, and an alternative that routes around known automated license plate reader (ALPR) camera locations. You pick which one you want. Camera locations are rendered directly on the map, so you can see what you're driving past, not just route around it blindly. Navigation features include turn-by-turn voice guidance with lane hints, full-screen search with categories and points of interest, and background navigation that keeps directions running with the screen off. On the privacy side: no account, no sign-up, no ads, no third-party trackers, no data sales. Your location is used to compute a route and never stored or tied to an identity. Map tiles are self-hosted, so requests don't route through Google. The navigation core is open-source, built on Ferrostar. FlockHopper is built and maintained by one developer with no investors and no subscription. Everything is free. There's an optional Tip Jar if you want to support the project — it unlocks nothing, it's just a tip. Camera data is community-sourced and coverage varies by region — it won't always be complete or current. FlockHopper is a tool for reducing exposure to ALPR networks, not a guarantee. The best one visually, uncertain if they show all cameras but so far very accurate in my area as I've checked (Tacoma, WA). Highly recommended but says not available for my IPAD only my iPhone .
My primary ride is a motorcycle, and until this app supports CarPlay I won’t use it. I won’t risk the death of my phone’s camera ever again to the vibration on my handlebars. My phone stays in my pocket. With that being said, with most modern cars having CarPlay at this point it’s not practical to setup your phone everytime you get in and out of your car just to run a map app adjacent to your CarPlay screen. CarPlay is a necessary feature for map apps in 2026 that should’ve been available on day one, and not an after thought.
Please add CarPlay compatibility.
Constantly putting me in the wrong direction. Still driving by flock cameras. Doesn’t save places you’ve put in to go to.
This is a great app it’s for the people and shows everyone where the cameras are hiding and they are tracking us it is good to know where they are at at all times and to let the people decide if they want to be tracked or not I hope this app gets more recognition it is an awesome app and has a really amazing gps system built into it. And it can also have u avoid the cameras even while driving to the same place as u would usually drive past them. God bless everyone and this app is amazing.
Love the aspect of the app, and privacy. I would LOVE to have it on Carplay, if that’s at all possible
This works so much better than the two other apps that I’d tried before this one, yet it uses some of the same, solid and familiar source data. The usability is great and the private routes are effective without becoming extra avoidant, therefore inefficient. I’m a happy new user and supporter. ✊
Man, so happy somebody also had this idea and made the app already. 10/10 usability. Suggestion: add CarPlay as a paid feature, and remember recent destinations/favorites automatically

Love this idea and great for commutes or short trips but shows an error code for longer trips which sucks because I was really hoping to use this for a long trip
For a solo dev this is amazing easy layout and simple to use!!
