Use the UK ETA app to apply for an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to come to the UK. Who can apply Find out if you need an ETA to travel to the UK at: https://www.gov.uk/electronic-travel-authorisation. How to apply on the UK ETA app 1. Take a photo of your passport. 2. Scan the chip in your passport. 3. Scan your face. 4. Take a photo of yourself. 5. Answer some questions about yourself. 6. Pay for your application. It should only take 10 minutes to apply. You do not need to enter your travel details. Before you start To apply you will need: • an iPhone 8 or newer with IOS 16 or later • the passport you will use to travel to the UK • a credit card, debit card or Apple Pay • access to your emails If you're applying for someone else they must be with you. If they are not, you should apply online at: https://www.gov.uk/electronic-travel-authorisation. After you apply You’ll get a decision by email from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), usually within a day. Allow up to 3 working days (Monday to Friday) to get a decision, but it may arrive much sooner. The email will contain your 16 digit ETA reference number. You must wait until you get an email confirming you have an ETA before you travel to the UK. If you have not received a decision after 3 working days, check your spam or junk email folder before contacting UKVI. You may get decisions at different times to other people you applied for. Your ETA will be linked to the passport you applied with. You only need to show your passport when you travel to the UK. Privacy and security The app is safe and secure. No information is stored on the app or your phone after you close it. You can delete the app after you have completed your application. It took me at least 16 attempts, a few hours, multiple attempts on the online alternative, and paying twice (once via the website and once via the app) before I finally got it to work. My 15 year old son’s online application was instantly approved while mine was not, which convinced me to give this incredibly frustrating app yet another try. In the meantime we got to the point of contemplating him visiting London while I just waited in the airport. I can see from the reviews I’m not the only one who has struggled to use this. Please fix the bugs!
Overall not terrible but failed to accept autofill for “hide my email” from latest version of iOS. I had to manually go over to settings and copy the created email into the app. The passport chip scanning was next level, as well as the facial scan.
I have no idea why this app has such a low rating. It was super easy and only took me 5 minutes to complete and I received the decision in my email almost instantly. One tip you have to put the camera on the back page with your cell phone half way up the page.
Must have been managed by school dropouts. So glitchy and frustrating.
I don’t know who’s giving this bad ratings. It’s straightforward and I didn’t have any technical issues. The type and formatting is decent too.
It takes forever to get through all of the steps. Scanning your face, finding the barcode takes forever to get it to work. I finally managed to get all of that to work, and I get towards the end where you have to enter the country where you are going. We are going to the United Kingdom. It’s a drop-down, and you can’t type in your own country. You have to select from the list England, United Kingdom, Great Britain are not one of the selections. So I can’t move on. Absurd.
Almost missed my flight
I don’t understand the low ratings. The process was quick and easy. It took less than 10 minutes. I was approved almost instantly. Make sure you have your phone touch the back cover of your passport in order to scan the chip.
Was approved within a minute of applying. Application took about five minutes.
This app was so user friendly and the ETA was much less expensive than other apps or websites.
レビューがあまり良くないのもあり、少し心配でしたが、何事もなく申請できました。ほぼ同時に承認メールも来て、逆に驚いたくらいです。
なんか最初怪しいアプリでは？笑、と思いましたが、かなりわかりやすく、すぐにapprovalメールも来ました。 iPhoneSEと古めのiPhoneでやりました。 英語が苦手な方は、Geminiなどに聞いてやると良いかと思います。日本語対応はないですが、簡単な英語です。絵でも説明してくれます。 費用も円換算してくれるのでわかりやすいです。2025.3.20時点では16ポンドだったので3500円くらいでした。自力でやって浮いた分何かに使いましょう！
