The recent update has caused a number of issues, including the lost of always on dark mode within the app setting. Happy to update this review when these bugs have been squashed. Don’t break what works with unnecessary updates!

The recently released update to the “Guardian Editions” app does NOT work. On my Apple iPad, this app’s prior version worked fine a few days ago. Today (5/27/2026), the app fails(it just starts, displays a blank screen with the dreaded spinning icon.

I read CNN, New York Times, and The Guardian. If I had to choose one paper to read, it would be the Guardian. The Guardian reports the news as it is. It is not influenced by any sponsors at all. Many important things, unreported in the news organizations, are reported by The Guardian. Thank you for your great reporting.

Had to dump this one too! They went to a sign in so they can collect your information and then email and text you! Good bye

As apps go, this one could use some work. The content is wonderful, superb, at times the best anywhere, and easily among the best on a given day. The navigation within the app is dreadful. For example, there is no way to navigate from football tables directly to fixtures, the user must reverse directions to previous pages. It’s just one example, but it happens in every section. Also, opening the search tool requires several touches, “search” should be available on every displayed page of the app.

It asked if I want to support The Guardian and had an introductory price and when I pushed the button they charged me full price. Anyway, to get a refund for that.? Please cancel this review. I just found an email that said that the subscription was at the trial price. Sorry.

The Guardian provides exactly what Americans need to help take our blinders off. While traveling over the years throughout Europe and Mexico, I've been able to see first hand from a perspective outside the US what the term 'ugly American' really means. Trump embodies that humiliating, but not inaccurate summation. By removing the rock under which far right racist and religious extremists hid, he's brought our dark underbelly into the light. That truth has brought heartbreak and shame to progressives not only during this Trump autocracy, but for a lifetime. We love our country, and are not True Believers, but its true patriots. In our determination to rout Trump and his MAGA cult out of office, we can only hope the world will finally understand by our example that Christian Nationalists and Evangelicals do not represent the majority of the American electorate. The eligible voters are under a third, the majority of which are generational descendants of the Confederate South. Consciously or not, collective rage at their loss still fester. It's not an exaggeration to expect, when asked, that a frightening number would see no problem in bringing back slavery. Please forgive us, Guardian readers. We are a democratic republic and social democracy. We, as liberals and humanitarians, vow to bring a correction to this political aberration we're suffering through now. After November of this year and November of 2028, there will be a sea change, a tectonic shift in our political system. We owe it not only to ourselves, but to you and to the world outside our wounded and debilitated United States. Then the healing can begin.

I like the app normally, but over the last few weeks the app crashes daily. I have the most recent update.

After YEARS of fooling around, reading sporadically, dodging the ads and promos, I broke loose a few bucks each month to support The G as a gesture for the incredible breadth and depth and journalistic honesty of the news and info output. The more I read and explored, the better it got. I subscribed and guess what?! The G has become my Numero Uno, my island of sanity in the chaotic upside down media landscape.

Suddenly requires you to sign in to view news articles. Already seeing ads so you can only assume it is to sell your data. Makes you wonder what else is being sold out. So much for integrity and keeping people informed. Uninstalled.

These days it is often biased with very limited access to articles - practically news are for the rich now. Also in comments you can get blocked easily for not following their agenda. Free speech it isn’t. They could have opted for a different wallet friendly model but no and this is a final fairwell from me. Bye!
