This nytimes news app is really trying to jam its unwelcome audio and video content down everyone’s throats. I just want to read the news, but there’s no way to disable or hide this junk content from showing up on the news page.
Thanks to the NYT, my English language skills have been improving for a couple of years. Really appreciate it. And I will continue subscribing the NYT.
I really appreciate NYT which deserves 5 stars for journalism. App is well made but too data hungry. If I am using hotspot it regularly killed my monthly 50GB limit (no videos or podcasts used, just reading!). For this reason I switched to browser usage which reduced my data spending by 70-80%. Data tracking shows this effect is clearly due to this app. Please remember that elegant software design is not only a sleek surface but also lean and economical. Thanks!
There’s no way to close the listening window. It’s a basic function that other apps have. Very annoying
Generally a good app with reliable news BUT every day I get a damn mail trying to get me to upgrade to a family plan! I DO NOT WANT TO!!!
1. Why are there lifestyle and cooking tabs at the top but no world or politics? I have to open sections and scroll way down. This is a news app, right? 2. There’s no X to close the listen window. It’s a basic function that other apps have. For reference, I also use the Economist app, which is much more user friendly. Nyt needs a 3 dash sidebar in the top corner.

I’ve been using this app for a little over a year without issues, but recently it’s been getting slower, and some days I can’t even use it properly because of glitches.

So helpful to one who try to know global issues in the world
I used to love using the NYTimes Audio app, which was a great way to listen to news content with a dedicated feed. The audio tab on the main NYTimes app is a very underwhelming replacement, with a crowded UI that has poor visibility and discoverability, and generally lacking in all the features that made the audio app such a good experience.
Finally I can’t update this app by my iPad mini4. I’ve been subscribed for several years. This update really sucks
