So simple, and so many uses”. -- T1Man Using Pinbox on an iPod Touch or an iPad: Like other map apps, Pinbox uses GPS to determine your location. iPods and Wi-Fi-only iPads do not have a GPS receiver. On these devices, Pinbox provides your approximate location using information based on your proximity to known Wi-Fi networks (when on and available). The more accurate the available information, the smaller the circle identifying your position on the map. This feature is not available in all areas. Known Wi-Fi networks are predominantly in urban areas. An internet connection is required to load maps, look up addresses, and search. Although Pinbox can be installed on iPads, it’s not formatted for the larger iPad screen - it runs doubled like all other iPhone apps. Pinbox is the result of a collaboration between Scott D. Do not pay for this app if you're expecting to use this application on two devices, there is no creating an account, you can only use it on one device. Trying to export your saved locations is a major hassle, I urge you to look elsewhere. App deleted. I'll be requesting a refund too.
I have used this in the US and Europe. It’s incredibly easy and very accurate. Mark the items you want to see, open the app, and find your way. I like to color code - restaurants, top sites, second-maybe-see sites, etc. More than once I’ve looked at this site and found that I was super close to a point of interest and didn’t even realize it! I’ve recommended this to many other happy travelers. I know that Google Maps is popular but this is far far better.
I have loved this app for several years. Thousands of pins saved from jobs done to travel locations to best restaurants along with notes and photos on practically all of them. I recently started having problems with my iphone which was backed up to iCloud every night. Once I restored my new phone from iCloud, I noticed that there was no provisions in either the pinbox app to restore from a backup, nor does the iCloud settings show the app as linkable to iCloud. In FAQ: “How do I backup my Pinbox data? Your Pinbox data is automatically backed up whenever you backup your iOS device to iCloud or to your computer (through iTunes). If your device were to ever get lost or broken, your Pinbox data would be available on your new device as long as you set up your new device by restoring from backup.” I’ve sent two emails to the Developer with no reply yet. Will update this review once they reply. Summary, the app is great, but hopefully we get this backup situation worked out, I would hate to lose at least 10 years worth of diligent notetaking.
Why can’t you update the app so that I can also have landscape view rather than just be able to see the map one way ??? Also posting inaccurate names, it’s and it will always be the Gulf of MEXICO
Hello! I love this app!! However, I have one suggestion: Please include in a future update the ability to rename individual maps. You can rename the pins, but you can’t rename the maps. Thank you!
This is an incredible app. I use it to keep track of accounts that I visit for my job please please please please please add the ability to import pins from a csv.

I’ve had this app for years. At least 6. I do a fair share of traveling and I mark every point of interest. Visiting family out of town is an easy example, we do this regularly. I mark every restaurant we go to with pictures. Makes finding them again super easy. Plus it’s just cool to see the places I’ve been. There’s not a lot to it which is actually nice. It’s easy to use.
LOOOOOVE THIS APP. I originally downloaded it as a tool to help with my family’s cross country relocation, and Disney!! I out it on the shelf for a couple years, and then had to dust it off when I got a job that requires me to travel to people’s homes throughout the county! It helps me plan my day, to see where I am in relation to each stop/the office/hospitals/gas stations with the best prices, etc…!!! 🫶🏾
