This app gives you a taste of Amharic! 암하라어는 셈어파에 속하는 언어이며 에티오피아의 공용어이다. 암하라어는 셈어계이지만, 함어의 영향을 받아서 그 명칭도 에티오피아의 암하라 지방의 주민 이름으로부터 유래하였다. 암하라어는 12세기 말부터 에티오피아 터와흐도 정교회에서 쓰였다. 현재 에티오피아의 공용어로 방송·신문 등에서 쓰인다. 암하라어를 사용하는 인수는 약 2200만이다.
