We all know how hard it is to be away from our little. This app makes it a little bit easier.
This is honestly one of the most frustrating apps I’ve ever used. For a parent/school communication app, there are really only two core functions most parents use every day: viewing photos and messaging teachers. Unfortunately, both functions are awful. The photo viewing experience is unbelievably bad. While scrolling through photos, the app randomly jumps or rolls back to an earlier spot for no reason. It becomes nearly impossible to view all the photos in one session because you constantly lose your place and have to scroll all over again. This happens repeatedly, often 5 to 6 times or more in a single viewing session. It is incredibly frustrating and feels like a basic functionality issue that should have been fixed long ago. Messaging is somehow even worse. The app does not support copy and paste properly at all. Editing messages is a nightmare. If you try to fix a typo or revise wording, the interface becomes extremely jumpy and unstable. Cursor movement feels broken, text selection barely works, and simple edits become frustratingly difficult. Honestly, it feels like the app somehow managed to make every possible interaction harder than it needs to be.
In four years of using this app, the best thing I can say is nothing has gotten much worse. However, the problems that plague it exist: push notifications don’t deep link to the content; reading a chat message doesn’t actually change the read state so the notification badge still show. How do you get it to unread? Scroll up and down on the message, stay in the message view for a bit, hope for divine intervention…seems pretty random as to what actually works; random log outs; randomly stops sending push notifications or showing them in the app. Amateur hour.
