I bought an excellent Collins Spanish Dictionary that had exactly the same interface as this English dictionary. When I replaced my iPad and tried to access the app on my new iPad, I got an error saying the app was "currently unavailable in your App Store." I contacted Apple for help and got nowhere. This is totally unacceptable for a dictionary app. Harper Collins should have given some thought to existing users. And SHAME on Apple for not standing by us and making sure that apps remain available to users who buy them. I'm totally disgusted after this experience. No wonder people don't want to pay for dictionary apps. It's really the worst kind of customer service, and it's about more than the money when it would be so easy for Apple to provide the app to people who paid for it.
In general, it is good enough for learner. Actually, I got the problem with pronunciation audio. I hope they can fix it soon.
Do not wast your money
There are better options out there. My vocabulary is fairly good, so I use this to look up rarer words. It routinely fails or is otherwise extremely limited. Merriam-Webster is always better in my moment of need. So I’ve deleted this from that precious main home screen.
This is the most well designed app I’ve seen in iOS. Great UI and features. I just wish the same developers create an app with the same style for Collins English-French dictionary (and better other languages).
Thought I would try a simple word test--jerky. Collins only had the adjective. Hey, Collins--what do you call dried, packaged beef with a leather-like texture? There are free dictionaries with better coverage than this $6.99 product.
