Layla 7.0 adds the Layla SDK and user-made mini-apps, rebuilds long-term memory around a new on-device pipeline, and brings a new set of voices. This release also includes every fix from 7.0.1 through 7.0.4. NEW - Layla SDK: build your own mini-apps as a single HTML file, a zip folder, or a self-hosted site. Mini-apps can use the LLM, characters, image generation, agents, memory and voice. - Browse Apps: install mini-apps made by other users, upload your own to Layla Cloud, manage versions in the Mini-Apps Manager, and share mini-app links. - Agent skill for Codex, Claude Code and OpenCode, plus a mini-app template for larger projects. - Real-time long-term memory, processed as you chat rather than ingested overnight in the background. - New default memory pipeline using a custom-trained model that builds summaries and knowledge graphs together. - Temporal knowledge graphs, with a full-screen view. - Dream rebuilt as a downloadable mini-app, with evolving character impressions, self-reflection and smarter conversation continuation. - Kokoro v1.0 voices, including multilingual options. - File Manager can import arbitrary files, including assets and draft models, and now shows image previews. - Expanded SDK APIs: chat sessions and history, sentiment detection, file save and read, image-to-image, TTS voice listing and generation, message scheduling, persona lookup, top-memory recall, and getting or setting inference engines. FIXED - Long-term memory generation getting stuck while building knowledge graphs. - Knowledge graphs opening to a blank page. - Long-term memory recording messages for characters with LTM turned off. - Removing long-term memory with the References mini-app installed failing with an unknown error. - Scheduled future messages appearing on the chat history page. - Dreams skipping scheduling when using cloud models. - Image-to-image not applying the prompt prefix. - Image generation starting while the model was still reasoning about the image prompt. - Mini-app image generation reading default settings instead of saved settings. - Custom sampler presets not saving additional llama.cpp arguments. - Speak Responses reporting that TTS was not initialised. - Layla Cloud voices not stopping when requested, and the SDK stop-speaking call doing nothing. - PocketTTS not working through the SDK. - Voice chat minimising text with the setting turned off. - Mini-apps sending a system prompt Layla did not use. - Chat history appearing when swiping left in a mini-app. - Importing a Roleplay from a RoleplayPNG not saving its characters. - Roleplay not loading long conversation histories properly. - Auto-translated messages not showing. - Prompts being processed again unnecessarily. - A crash when loading a very large conversation history. ⭐️ 1/5 – Update Broke Character Interactions "The latest update broke character card functionality. When attempting immersive role-play, the AI now rejects interactions the cards were designed for. No warning, no rollback option—just a core feature that no longer works. For an app centered on character-driven conversations, this is a major failure. Fix it ASAP
I am very satisfied about this beautiful app, it is very friendly and the writer is the best. I like characters. This is the app which I was looking for. But first when I have installed the app it starts downloading all necessary files, now I need to find what to download after reinstalling? This is very strange, because previously it downloaded all files simultaneously. Now I should download manually. Otherwise is good. I hope it will improve.
This use to be good but do not recommend with most recent updates and features added. Need to put tighter controls in place that work.
Really promising, but please allow me to use my Gemini API key!
I’ve been using this app for quite some time. There isn’t anything else like it, very manual setup, very inclusive. Apple changes things often, these guys push the boundaries of what can be done on a mobile device. Very open. Latest Apple update broke. Bunch of stuff, awaiting update for Layla 6.4.0, can’t wait to map some long term memory, very beautiful ideas implied Enter here, very satisfied with purchase.
画像生成ができるとの表記があるが、チャット上での画像生成ができない。 設定でImage Generationを設定したが画像生成できず、下記内容を質問した返答がこれ。 表記内容に偽りがあります。 「Image Generationを使用してるが画像は作れない？」 The current integration only allows for textual descriptions of the generated images. I can paint a vivid picture in words, but unfortunately, the technology at this moment does not enable direct visual output. However, I can attempt to redirect you to image hosting or sharing platforms or even programming environments where such capabilities are possible, should you wish to experiment further with visually representative outputs. At this stage, my role is confined to linguistic description, but innovative collaborations could potentially expand my range in the future.
While it is a very promising design of an LLM front-end the UI still wants for intuitiveness, the default AI is not great but can be replaced however the running AI model cannot seem to see all of its ability, so even if you give it – sake of example – an image or sound processing tool, the capabilities are not useable. For a paid app it is not yet on the level of various free software available
I had high hopes for Layla as an AI client with TavernAI-like features, but the reality is frustrating. Most of the advertised functionality simply doesn’t work as expected. Offline features are either broken or unreliable, and the only parts that consistently function are the paid online features—which feels like a bait-and-switch for an app marketed around local AI and privacy. The UI is clunky, and many features (like reminders, personalities, and roleplay) are either buggy or nonfunctional. Performance is slow, and the app only seems usable if you pay for cloud features, completely defeating the purpose of having a local AI assistant. Unless there are major improvements, I can’t recommend Layla. There are better, more reliable AI chat clients out there that actually deliver on their promises.
The description is misleading the app had full access to my location and claimed to collect all chats … false advertisement
Can’t tell if the app is bad, or iPhones are bad. I have the latest iPhone and I cannot run any LLM model outside of the one this app comes with — no mater how small the LLM model is. Constant crashing. Constant frustration.
I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and none of the features work. The app is slow and will not allow me to chat with any of the bots. Waste of money.
Really god app. Love that it works with both remote llms and local ones. For those of us who travel a lot, that’s very useful. The UI could be better. The “biometric lock” doesn’t seem to work, it just prompts for password or PIN. FR: Please make an iPad version! I have an M4 and would love to see this use the whole screen real estate.
