Rover – Pet Sitters

Sitters are great. App is garbage.

Trying to log in on a new phone - does not load. Unworkable app. Impossible to have 2 owners of a single dog . Complete garbage.

My dog was injured during a stay and I’m left with all of the costs. They’ll ask you for a statement and then manipulate your statement so they can say whatever happened is outside of their guidelines. They’re just another greedy corporation without any care for the wellbeing of anyone but themselves. Do not trust their “guarantee “ as it is anything g but a guarantee, it’s a tactic to make you believe your pet will be safe and cared for if anything were to happen, but they’re not. They’ll make up information that isn’t true to not pay for a single vet bill, such as saying your pet has a preexisting condition when they didn’t. For the sake of your pet, find another means of having them cared for because Rover absolutely doesn’t care.

Rover modified a booking where I was sitting a dog to extend the stay by 8 hours without my consent. They did not follow through with enforcing late fees and did not follow through with enforcing early cancellation fees. I would not suggest using Rover, Wag is a safer more reliable option. Please ignore Rovers response to this review because I contacted their support team several times during the incident and they always say they will take care of it, then they don’t and if you call back they say they will investigate further and provide a follow up. They will never follow up and have done this on 3 separate occasions. The first time they allowed an owner to cancel 1 hour before the booking even though I have a 7 day cancellation policy before accepting bookings.

Rover’s standard for review moderation appears to be “if someone feels it, it stays.” That’s an astonishingly low bar when reviews can contain serious, reputation damaging accusations. Feelings aren’t evidence. Their policies do not do enough to protect the people who rely on the platform for their livelihood. Other than that, app is great!

They will not have your back and will close your account when you find people hoarding dogs and using you for pet sitting services.

As a sitter, there are a couple of things I wish were more customizable. I wish there was a way to set my rate based on distance from my home (there’s a big difference between earning a set amount for caring for a pet in my neighborhood vs driving 15 min just for a 30 minute visit). I also wish there was a way for pet parents to change visit length from the preset 30 min (some cats need twice daily visits for food and the parents don’t need me to stay a full 30 min both times but because the app expects this, I fear I’ll get dinged in the algorithm if I end the visit early even though the parent has suggested this option)

I never expected that reporting a safety concern would result in me losing my account. After an incident involving a dog parent, I began experiencing harassment from individuals connected to that person. The situation escalated to the point where I was approached in my personal vehicle, leaving me feeling intimidated and genuinely concerned for my safety. As any sitter would, I immediately contacted Rover and provided evidence and documentation to support my report. What followed was one of the most frustrating customer support experiences I've ever had. Despite providing proof and repeatedly explaining the circumstances, I felt ignored, dismissed, and treated as though my concerns didn't matter. At no point did I feel that Rover was taking my safety seriously or conducting a fair review of the information I submitted. The most shocking part is that after reporting harassment and asking for help, my account was removed. Instead of receiving support, protection, or a meaningful investigation, I was left without answers and without access to the platform. Reading through online discussions, it's clear that concerns about Rover's customer support and handling of disputes are not unique to my situation. Many sitters and pet parents have shared experiences of feeling unheard when serious issues arise. Trust and safety should be the foundation of a platform like this. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling that sitters are not adequately protected when they report concerns. I can no longer recommend Rover based on how my situation was handled.

They will steal your money if you have to cancel a reservation for unforeseen circumstances. You cannot find a customer service phone number anywhere in the app or website to get assistance. I will never book with this service again.

My mom found a girl off this app and she used her multiple times. The most recent time she used her the girl stole her car. This girl had a record of theft and trust passing. She was on probation! I don’t know how Rover did not catch this!!!

You designers gotta chill on the trendy flat design it’s way to hard to tell if you are partially scrolled down one of the menus. Please add some contrast.

I’m a dog walker and pet sitter. Rover is obviously great for many reasons. But it also is incredibly frustrating. Let’s say for example I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday morning. I can’t block off just Wednesday morning. I have to either block off the entire day, say I’m never available in the morning, or reduce the number of walks/drop ins I can do that day. If a request comes in for Wednesday morning and I deny it, I get penalized for not having my schedule “up to date”. But there’s no real way for me to do that without affecting other opportunities for business on that day. I know people have been complaining about this for years, but rover hasn’t fixed it yet.
