a lot of adds…but addictive and perfect for learning languages
I’ve been wanting to learn mandarin so that I could talk to my fiancée parents.
I really like the way Busuu structures the lessons but occasionally it will start making you answer questions before covering the lesson. This is very frustrating. Also since they are now using AI they want you to give the app permission to use your microphone and record your voice. That is a bad idea given how easy such recordings can be abused. It doesn’t matter how good they claim their security is there is no perfect security when your product is connected to the internet. There are always at least one and sometimes two lessons in each chapter that require you to consent to microphone use and recording of your voice. I have to skip them. That means that the new language lessons in those modules are missed and that really makes things difficult. I wish the developer would create an option for these lessons that doesn’t use AI or require speaking so at least I could see the material I am missing in each. I enjoy the community interaction as well.
I’ve used several apps over the years and Busuu is by far the best for learning a language. Here’s what makes it so: * Ongoing interactions with native speakers who correct your exercises—I love this! I also really enjoy correcting their exercises as well * Extremely high quality language lessons, dialogues, and topics to learn * Recordings of actual native speakers rather than automated machine pronunciation * Very reasonable cost

That is the best option how you can practice your skill in language
Ima be real. I’ve come across many language learning apps. This is probably the only language learning app I’ve come across that implements Ai, though in a very balanced way. There are various new apps out, that require you to pay a huge fee for a period of time or $15 for a week…compared to this app, where discounts will be given, especially if you’re buying a subscription for the year…they charge per month, for regular subscription which I find chill. This app and language transfer I’ve constantly used for language learning. So I would recommend highly. - I won’t give this app 5 stars because I just don’t give any app 5 stars lol.
Honestly I'm sure the app is okay from a learning perspective but wow the quality of the app not worth the money they ask for the subscription. I found myself becoming increasingly frustrated at the poor user experience. Every single time you answer a question you have to select 'continue' on the VERY bottom of the screen. Doing this once is okay but over and over and over again became a pure annoyance. The button presses also take a long time to register. In general the app feels pretty un-polished and vibe coded. If it was free, that's one thing, but for the price i really don't recommend it.
This app is very fun with precise details regarding all the little things you need to know and making it fun at the same time.
